Breakwater Beach is found on the opposite side of Smeaton’s Pier to the Harbour Beach. It disappears at hide tide, but when the tide goes out there is a lovely, often very quiet stretch of beach. It is the perfect, quiet spot for dog walking at low tide.
Getting To Breakwater Beach
Walk along past the harbour to Smeaton’s Pier. Go down the ramp by the side of the toilets and turn right.
There is no direct bus access. The buses in St Ives drop off either at the bus station, Royal Square, or on the road behind Porthmeor Beach.
The nearest car park is Smeaton’s Pier.
Access Down To Breakwater Beach
You can access Breakwater Beach either by walking down the slipway and steps behind Smeaton's Pier by New/Wood Pier - by the shelter at the back. Or you can wait for the tide to go right out and walk across the harbour.
