Ayr Field & Play Park sits on the hill above Porthmeor Beach, overlooking the town. There are 4 entrances, 3 with lovely, ornate gates.
The Park
At the top of the field is the play park.
The play park is gated so dogs can't enter. Dogs are not allowed in this part of the park.
There is a really big climbing frame with rope obstacles and wobbly wooden walkways. There is also a pretty steep slide. It is silver and can get a bit hot in the Summer!
The bucket swing is always a hit with my children. It is substantial and can fit several children in it.
The little rocker is good fun for smaller children.
There is some lovely wooden, quite natural feeling seating, so the grown ups can sit and watch their children playing.
The Scout Hut
At the top of the field, next to the play park is the St Ives Scout Hut.
New members are always welcome, and they meet on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.
The scout hut has a lovely little garden which attracts bees and butterflies.
Dogs Allowed
The main field is dog friendly, but please do pick up your dog poo and put the bags into the bins. Dogs are not allowed into the play park and there is a gate and wall to prevent them from going in.
The Field
The field has some good paths running around it, with several benches. There is a lovely view down to the sea on a clear day.
The main field is good for running around on, and the paths are good for scooting on. All around the field are trees and hedges which attract lots of bird life.
How To Get To Ayr Field And Play Park
Ayr Field is at the corner of Bullans Lane and Ayr Terrace. Lots of buses go past, both from the town and to and from Porthmeor Beach.
The closest car park is at Barnoon Cemetery. Out of season it is possible to park on the road by the hedge.
There is a small shop further down the road towards Porthmeor Beach that sells drinks, snacks, newspapers etc.
The nearest public toilets are in town.
