Okay, we all know you can swim in the sea. But not all of us are either that brave, that strong or that hardy against the cold!
We do have some lovely swimming pools down here in St Ives and across the region.
St Ives Leisure Centre
St Ives Leisure Centre has 2 swimming pools. The big one is 25m long and usually about 29 degrees. It has lane swimming and various aqua sports during the day plus school lessons during term time. The small pool is very shallow (adults have to crouch!) and is warmer at 31 degrees. It has a slide and water toys.

The Quarter Deck Swimming Pool
Ayr Holiday Park in St Ives has a new swimming pool that visitors can use. It is open daily and they advise you to book in advance, especially during the holidays.
There is a unisex changing room with free lockers and showers.

St Ives Harbour Hotel Swimming Pool
St Ives Harbour Hotel has a lovely swimming pool in its “Harspa”. You need to be a member of the spa to use the swimming pool.
Individual membership £60 per month
2 Person membership £110 per month
Both are cancellable with one months’ notice. You can get a years membership which is a bit cheaper, but you can't cancel it within the year to get a refund.

Tregenna Castle Swimming Pool
Tregenna Castle has 2 swimming pools. An indoor one which is quite small and heated to 29 degrees, and an outdoor one heated to 26 degrees. The outdoor one is only open May to September and is not open to non-residents.
Non hotel residents can use the indoor swimming pools out of school holidays (Cornwall council term dates apply). Swimming sessions are restricted to one hour.

Carbis Bay Hotel has a lovely outdoor heated swimming pool. If you are using the SPA you can use the pool. Otherwise it is just for hotel guests.

Una Spa Swimming Pool
Una Spa St Ives is a gorgeous holiday resort/spa/restaurant behind Carbis Bay down Laity Lane.
They have a lovely 15m indoor pool with a jacuzzi and sauna, and an even nicer heated outdoor pool.
You can pay to join as a member and use of the pool comes with the membership

Hayle Outdoor Swimming Pool
My Mum and Dad live in Hayle and they LOVE the outdoor swimming pool. It is only open May to September and is really popular with locals during the school holidays. It is solar heated an gets to between 22 and 25 degrees, so not the warmest!
It is opening this year on the 25th May for half term. It will then be open weekends only until Saturday 22 June when daily opening will resume for the summer season until Sunday 8 September 2024.
You need to book a session which runs from 11:00 – 13:00, 13:30- 15:30 and 16:00- 18:00

Penzance Leisure Centre
Penzance Leisure Centre has a 25m swimming pool and a learner pool. On a Saturday and during the holidays they do a floats fun session for confident kids.

Wheal Rodney Swimming Pool
Wheal Rodney is a holiday park near Marazion. The swimming pool is a small, private one that is usually lovely and warm. Non-residents can use the swimming pool – no membership is needed.

Jubilee Open Air Swimming Pool
The Jubilee Open Air Swimming Pool is the jewel in the crown for Penzance. It is an art deco lido that has been refurbished to a beautiful standard. Currently it closed for Winter, but in Spring 2019 it will be opened all year round (they are getting heating!).

Gwel an Mor has an indoor swimming pool that opens to non-residents. They do ask that you ring before you turn up just in case they are too busy. You don’t need membership to use the pool.

Carn Brea Leisure Centre
Carn Brea is a huge, recently refurbished leisure centre just outside Redruth. It has a very good, large swimming pool and a learner pool. They have inflatable sessions during the school holidays which are fun.
